LE LYS
photographic installation, space divided by a partition wall, sloped floor,
two transparencies in lightboxes, both 173×148 cm
2014

The viewer enters a completely darkened space in which s/he encounters a dimly lit lightbox depicting a sculpture. The position of the image/sculpture in relation to the viewer's movement suggests the possibility of encountering the sculpture face-to-face behind the partition wall, but instead the sculpture has turned its back to the viewer. The floor leading up to the second image is sloped faintly upwards so that the beholder feels both physical and pictorial resistance in trying to approach the sculpture.
