PERSPECTIVE STUDY
photographic installation, angled wall, two transparencies in custom-angled lightboxes, both 118×113 cm
2016

Perspective Study is a work photographed "on location" but the images reflected on the glass panels on the facade of a building are composed from shots taken from several different vantage points. Since the reflected compositions are the glimpses from different vantage points one would see while walking past the facade in the actual location, the photographs could also be said to describe movement. The installation allows both images to be seen at the same time, thus making apparent the disruption of perspectival space. This in turn raises doubts about the viewer's own position in relation to the images and the reflected depiction of a well-known building that upon close inspection reveals itself to be a fragmentary view of the Atomium in Brussels.
