photographic installation, space divided by a partition wall,
two inkjet transparencies in lightboxes, both 113 × 131 cm
A dimly lit lightbox faces the viewer directly inside a darkened space. Only the frame of a windowpane stands in sharp focus against the otherwise blurry image. After passing the partition wall the viewer comes to the second image that reveals the depicted scene to be a slightly cluttered office bathing in melancholic afternoon sunlight. An orchid sits on the edge of a shelf. The placement of the photographs within the installation describes the shifting of the focal plane—a procedure that has already taken place inside the camera.
