Still Life
2016

16 mm film, rear projection,
continuous loop

The 16 mm film Still Life can be seen as a companion to the installation Late Afternoon. While the spatial relationship between the viewer and the image is emphasised in the photographic work, time and temporality are the focus of the film. The work makes use of the technological determinacy of analogue film projection – the constant movement of the film material itself. The still photographs that are animated here by cross dissolves create a new kind of tension between stillness and movement. The flower appears confined both into the diminishing light as well as the looping film material itself.
