16 mm film, rear projection,
continuous loop
The 16 mm film Still Life can be seen as a companion to the installation Late Afternoon. The work emphasises the technological determinacy of analogue film projection—the constant movement of the film material itself. The film comprises a series of still photographs that are animated by slow cross-dissolves, creating a new kind of tension between stillness and movement. The depicted orchid appears confined both by the diminishing light as well as by the looping film material.
